Staurois lifanensis,sp.nov.
Tyepe: No.1062,andult female; Nan-kou (南沟), Li-fan-city (理番城),
Szechwan, China; 5100 feet altitude; July 28, 1941; collector

D agnosis: Closely relatd to Staurois riclcett; size larger, wirhout a
small gland at the end of the glandular fold above the distinct
tympanum; back freatly marbled with dark brown on a bluish-
gray background color; mouth part of the tadpole provided
with three continuous rows, and four interrupted rows of labial
teeth on the upper lip and two continuous and one interrupted
fow on the lower lip.
Description of the type, (figs,10-11).
Vomerine teeth in oblique series, their latero-anterior ends on a lin ewith the posterior border of the choanae.
Head slightly longer than broad, depressed; anout reunded, projecting beyond mouth, slightly shorter than the eye, canthus nostealis obtuse; lorealregion strongly eoncave and oblique; nostrils at mid-way between the eye and the tip of the snout; internasal space much greater than interorbital width, which wquals the width of the upper eyelid; tympanum distinet, about one-fourth of the length of the eye, which is reddish in color at the ventral half when in living condition.
The lengthe of the lower arm abont half body length; fingers rather long; first nearly as long as the second, fourth finger shorter than the third, but longer than the first and second; subarticular tubercles well developed; the finger discs wider than those of the toes, with distinct grooves separating the upper from the lower surfeces.
Hind limb long and rather slender, tibio- tarsal articulartion reaching beyond the nostril; heels over-lapping when femora are placed at right angles to the body; length of tibia about 65% of the body length; toes with distinct subarticular tubercles and their discs similar to those fingers but smaller; webs fully developed to the bases of all the discs; inner-metatarsal tubercle obal, and without outer metatarsal tubercle.
No dorso-lateral fold, but with a feeble glandular fold from posterior corner of eye to the shoulder, Skin not smooth, glandular granules.
